I have wanted to be an astronaut from the first time I began thinking about life as a "grown-up". Pretty much second grade. That dream has stuck with me ever since, all the way through high school, and is now the driving force in my life.
Last June, I graduated from the top public high school in Illinois with very near straight A's. In four days, I will be moving in at the University of Southern California to pursue a degree in Astronautical Engineering. I've been offered a research position in one of their labs already. It seems to me that my dream is starting to come true, and in that respect, I couldn't be happier. On the other hand, leaving my home and all of my friends whom I've grown so close to hurts. Breaking up with my girlfriend because we couldn't make it work over such a long distance hurt too. Now, my goodbyes said, I just wait for the day I can move to LA.
